Solid Waste

The City collects household garbage from single-family residences and apartment buildings (5 units or less). Household garbage must be bagged and placed in your gray roll cart for collection.

PLEASE NOTE: The City does NOT pick up tires, electronic waste, or contractor-generated construction/demolition materials or green waste. City residents may contact Spartanburg County Solid Waste to properly dispose of these materials, 864-949-0211.

2024 Solid Waste Holiday Schedule 

Regular solid waste pickup on all holidays except Thanksgiving and Christmas 2024.

  • Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28th
    • Regular Thursday pick-up will be on Friday, November 29th
    • Regular Friday pick-up will be on Saturday, November 30th.
  • Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25th
    • Regular Wednesday pick-up will be on Thursday, December 26th
    • Regular Thursday pick-up will be on Friday, December 27th
    • Regular Friday pick-up will be on Saturday, December 28th
  • New Year's Day, Wednesday, January 1st, 2025
    • Regular Wednesday pick-up will be on Thursday, January 2nd
    • Regular Thursday pick-up will be on Friday, January 3rd 
    • Regular Friday pick-up will be on Saturday, January 4th

curbside cart Best Practices

  • Make sure your cart is placed curbside by 7:30 AM on your scheduled collection day
  • Place carts 3 feet away from cars, mailboxes, & other objects
  • Paint & liquids, televisions, electronics, tires, and yard trimmings should NOT be placed in carts
  • Lids must be closed to safely service carts; if needed, additional carts are available for a fee. You may request additional carts by using the bin request form below or calling 864-596-3690

Bin Request

  1. An additional bin will require a fee of $65 per roll cart.

    **For any additional garbage roll cart, there will also be a $153 annual fee assessed to the property owner and billed separately by City's Finance Department, apart from the $65 additional bin cost.**

    *Residents are responsible for keeping roll carts clean; the City will ONLY replace damaged roll carts.*
