Commercial Building Permit

Any work done on non-residential property in the City of Spartanburg will require a commercial building permit. Commercial building permits are only issued to state and City-licensed contractors.

Depending upon the type of work to be done, a number of applications may need to be completed. For assistance regarding building permits, please visit our Building Inspections page

**NOTE: Beginning in June 2023 we will be requesting all commercial plan reviews be submitted electronically; please submit commercial plans at this link going forward: https://gopost-spartanburg.eplansoftreview.com/#/login. This link will work for all drawings and associated documents. We will still allow a hard set of drawings to be submitted but in addition to the electronic submittal.**

Demolition, Exterior Construction & Site Plan Review

If demolition is required prior to exterior work beginning on your site, a demolition permit application will need to be completed. For exterior work, a site plan must also be submitted to the City Planning Department for review. Depending on the work scope, additional applications may also need to be submitted.

INTERIOR WORK

For interior work on your commercial space, the following applications may need to be completed, depending upon the scope of the work.

Fire Alarms & Suppression

Work done to any commercial fire alarm or suppression systems may require one or more of the following forms, depending upon the work scope.
