Paratransit

Through the Spartanburg County Transportation Service Bureau, SPARTA offers a low-cost, door-to-door Paratransit van service to help meet the needs of mobility-impaired residents in our area.

Designed in compliance with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Paratransit vans can accommodate the needs of disabled passengers, and each van is equipped with a restraint system for securing wheelchairs.

Anyone wishing to use the Paratransit service must complete an application to determine eligibility. SPARTA will also contact a medical professional familiar with your abilities to ask questions about the nature of your mobility impairment. SPARTA uses this information to determine if you are eligible to use the paratransit service all of the time, some of the time, or not at all.

Once you qualify for the service, you must get a photo ID made at the SPARTA Passenger Center at 100 N Liberty Street. Then you may call the Transportation Service Bureau at 864-560-4118 to make appointments for the service.
